Alissa Davis, Ph.D.,is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the HIV Center. She received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Indiana University-Bloomington and her M.A. in International Relations from Syracuse University.


Dr. Davis’s research focuses on the socio-cultural risk factors that contribute to the acquisition of HIV and STDs and on commonly occurring co-problems, such as intimate partner violence and infectious diseases. She is particularly interested in examining these issues within the context of social inequalities and health disparities. Her research interests also include improving access to HIV and STD testing and care, particularly through the use of innovative technologies, such as rapid point-of-care tests, and novel strategies, such as the implementation of social network programs or the provision of health services in non-traditional venues. Her international regions of focus include post-Soviet Central Asia, Russia, and China.
